Health & Wellness: My Roman Empire

A very belated… hi, February!

Well, I think we can all agree that the best part of February is that January is over. [And now Feb is almost over (?!?!?!)] The longest, darkest month of the year also coincides with my birthday at the end of it (hello, Aquarius friends). SO that makes it feel extra long getting to the 29th day.

too nice to not go for a little weight vest walk today (in my luteal phase so this is such a perfect cardio option!)

Now that we’re at the end of Feb, the temps are finally turning around in ATX and life just feels more vibrant when we have the sunshine. Seasonal depression is a real thing. So are our mitochondria being stimulated by the sun. Without it, illness and suboptimal mood, metabolism, hormones and more occur. So if you’re in colder weather, hang on friends, the time is near! (And also force yourself to get outside even if it’s cold, it’ll help your health tremendously!)

First month of a new year of life

I posted on my birthday reflecting on turning another year older, how this birthday was particularly special—my golden 29th birthday. A milestone I looked forward to my whooole life. And with that milestone passed, life must go on!

But it is nice to reflect on how I’ve grown, and what I’ve become. If you asked me when I was in high school if I’d ever start a health coaching business, I’d probably say that makes sense. If you asked me if I’d be living in Austin, TX, I’d probably say that makes sense. If you asked me if I’d be dating someone who went to Miami of Ohio, I’d probably say that makes sense.

I’ve always been the same ultra-competitive, wellness-loving, food-loving, movement & warm-weather lover. It’s the seasons of life that sway, and how those core parts of me manifest. For years it was field hockey, then running, now channeling all these passion and parts of me into building this health coaching business.

How’s hellohalle going?

It’s been 6 months since completing my health coach certification, and 3.5 months of “ building my business” on Instagram.

And I’m sitting here thinking to myself— what the heckkkkkk am I doing! All I want to do is help others, and be the health coach that I needed throughout my health journey. And talk about all things health aka my Roman Empire. But I’m also caught up in the: I need to grow my business thought pattern constantly, and feeling out of my element here. But that’s part of it: just pushing forward, trying, evolving.

Health is our greatest asset

My purpose revolves around my health & wellness— what I eat, my actions, my workouts, my nutrition. Because I truly believe that life opens up for you when you feel your best.

Our health is our greatest asset: if not optimized, we’re held back in other ways. I want to be the best version of myself (hello type-A competitive, Halle!) to help others, to further my career, to share experiences with loved ones, and more. If I’m not my best self through having a strong health & wellness personal foundation, I can’t fully be present and balanced with those things.

If we’re caught up in our health imperfections—fatigue, anxiety, aches, gut issues, hormonal imbalances (irritability, bloating, etc), metabolic issues, etc.— in our daily lives, those imperfections bleed over into the things we value and care about. There will be a strain on your presence with the things you value even if the underlying health imperfections are subconscious. And I wholeheartedly believe that 99% of our health imperfections stem from our daily actions: nutrition, habits, movement, self-care.

That’s my Roman Empire. Our daily actions drive our health & wellness both ways—towards health & balance, or imperfections & lack of presence with the things/people you love.
